Legendary jazz and soul musician Gil Scott-Heron has passed away at the age of 62 earlier this afternoon in New York. He has been praised throughout his life as one of the most influential figures to the hip hop community.

One of his later releases, was just a couple months back when he teamed up with Jamie xx to provide vocals for ‘Ill Take Care Of U’. To this day, I still listen to this amazing track on a daily basis.

And his legendary track, ‘The Revolution Will Not Be Televised’(1970). Which has been sampled over dozens of hip-hip songs, including most recently being used on Kanye’s album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’.
